Winter is Here

A view of Salem, Maine on the SR&RL on a day I would not want to visit Maine on. The snow is getting deep and the crew is large with I am thinking a ton of snow still to be moved. I scanned this view recently from a group of photos I purchased last June from George Melvin...George Dutka

  1. George, great pic. I can feel that cold air. By the look of the stack exhaust, I'm sure the crew is glad the winds not blowing! tom
    Can you publish additional pics??

  2. thanks George....looking forward to them.
I've retired to Charleston SC and I've started planning my next "Maine 2'ah" (in On30). I visited Al Cherulla's beautiful SR&RL's layout in Atlanta. Incredible representation of Franklin Co. in the 1920's. I believe I will be concentrating on Farmington to Phillips with Strong being the central scenic focus. All the switching that was done between timetable trains (in the 1920's) will really add to the operation.
