Building a FOS Scale Pop Machine

All the laser cut parts needed to complete the pop cooler. I set the coin dispenser on top of the outside shell. Doug's finished model is seen in the photo above.

While assembling the O scale service station many of the details are built up from laser cut wood sub-assemblies. Here is how the pop machine went together...George Dutka

All the parts are glued together and painted Floquil  Penn Central green.

The pop cooler is finished and glued to the gas station. I added a good amount of rust along the bottom and Bragdon powders over the body. A newspaper is thrown on top.

Tender Completed

My Bachmann tender is ready to go...now to begin on the engine itself.

I recently completed the tender for my On30" 2-6-0. The SR&RL actually had three 2-6-0's, 15, 16 and 18. These three engines were sent to the MEC shops for rebuilding between 1912 and 1916 into 2-6-2's. My Bachmann engine will stay a 2-6-0 and numbered as No. 15. These is just to many differences to copy the prototype. I am just going to emulating what it would have looked like if Bachmann was the builder back then...George Dutka

I added Sylvan coal which is glued down and coated with PanPastel coarse coal.

Some acrylic paints are applied in different shades of gray along with a bit of white steaks.

The lettering is from Mt. Blue Model Co. I used the boxcar lettering decal.

New Project

O scale kit in the works.

Here are a couple of views of my workbench as I assemble a FOS kit. An O scale gas station that I will be taking to display at the Schomberg Narrow Gauge show. A messy day on the workbench for sure...George Dutka

I had taken a good group of photos at the Springfield show a few years back and have supplemented them with a few FOS web views. The instructions are not all that good, so the photos help.

Narrow Gauge Steam at Springfield

A short section of track was laid out for a little action.

At the Springfield train show between two entrances was a two foot gauge steam engine fired up and ready to go. Boothbay Railway Village steam engine #11 usually kept at Edaville entertained steam fans and was nice to see each time one change building...George Dutka
