Into Year Five

A string of narrow gauge coaches in Portland, Maine in Sept. 2016
March 31, 2013 was the date of my very first post on this blog. Now as year four ends and year five begins I still have a good supply of modeling and prototype information to cover...hope you are enjoying the ride...George Dutka

This is how it may look in the future.

Old time baggage in Portland, Maine.
My HOn30 diorama made from pieces of an old module.

My transfer yard from leftovers of HOn30" equipment.

Boothbay Railway Village - Steam

The motor car was in use during the day but we arrived too late for the last run of the day.
On my visit to Maine and the Boothbay Railway Village during the NNGC 2016 I got to check out their stream power. On my visit the steam engines were fired up but not in use. A few bus loads of visitors were expected and the diesel was needed for the runs. I did get a good look at the engine though and a future visit is in the works...George Dutka.

Some more fuel is being added to one of the Henschel engines.

A little time later a good amount of smoke appeared.
Both steamers are fired up for the day.

O Scale Saw Horses

My new saw horses ready for the W&Q Ry.
I was assembling some Osborne Model Kits road barricades for my HO scale White River Division when I realized that these could work as saw horses in O scale. I put two together and weathered them with Hunterline stain, Floquil Grime and PanPastels. I cut some lumber to 8 feet, glued it on and leaned the scraps to the sides. The shovel is a Berkshire casting. I need to get a O scale saw though...George Dutka

Here is my scene with the package insert. One can make 8 of these from one package.
My factory worker will be used in the scene once he gets a paint job.

Redington, Maine

A look down the line of the SR&RL at Redington, Maine. This photo is undated.
Here is a look down the right of way probably a year or so after the rails came out. No detail on the back of the photo...George Dutka
